Lion is a beautifuland strong animal. Inmany cultures a lionis referred to as Kingof the Beasts andconsidered anembodiment ofstrength and power.Lions belong to theorder of predators.They have a kinglyappearance: amagnificent mane, amuscular body, sharpfangs and claws.They also have atufted tail. Theircolour may vary fromyellowish to dark-brown, but there arewhite lions as well.Females are usuallysmaller in size andhave no mane.These animals arefound mostly inAfrican countries andin India. Earlier theylived in SouthEuropean countries,in the Middle East,Iran and even in thesouthern part ofRussia. They live insavannas, but canalso be found inforests.Lions form specialfamily groups –prides. They hunt ingroups as well,chasing their preytogether. Lions’favorite preys aregnus, zebras andbuffalos.
