A hundred years(1)..(has passed) since the First World War(2) .... (began), and
this year it will be remembered in many different ways. It seems that
during the past year hundreds of historians (3) ...(have written) books which explain how
it (4)....(started), whose fault it was and how we (5) ...(still feel)
its effects today. No way before that one(6)...(had changed) the map of
Europe so much: new nations(7)....(were created) and many old ones (8)...(got)
back their independence. But it is the millions who(9)....(were killed) all
over the world that we remember on Armistice Day. (10).....(Will we learn)
anything new when we read the latesr books and TV programmes about this
terrible war? Possibly, but there always seems to be a war happening
somewhere.
