rain one's brains - не знаю, впервые слышу. может "промывать мозги"? но очень сомневаюсь.

rain on someone's parade - сделать кому-нибудь западло, испортить что-либо.
see which way the wind blows - равносильно нашему "откуда ветер дует", сориентироваться.
take a rain check - отказаться от чьего-то приглашения, пообещав прийти в другой раз.
troubled waters - мутная вода;
under a cloud - быть под подозрением;
under the weather - быть больным или пьяным) )
up in the air - быть в подвешенном состоянии, если что-то ещё не решено. У Джареда Лето есть такая песня)
walking on air - летать от счастья;
water under the bridge - что-то, что уже осталось в прошлом и теперь не важно.

The girls were staying in front of the policeman and they felt they were under the cloud. Children were happy to participate in the contest and they felt up in the  air. Jack had proposed to Janet by giving her a diamond ring, so she felt walking on air. People wanted to discuss previous topics with the boss but they knew it was water under the bridge.
