On 25 December in 1891, the first game of basketball was played at what is now Springfield College. The game was invented by a Canadian, Dr. James Naismith, a versatile athlete, theologian, and physical education instructor, who envisioned "the time when Christian people would recognize the true value of athletics." The Russia have bronze medals in olimpic games 2012, sliver medals in 1994,1998 World cup and gold(2007),sliver(1993),bronze(1997,2011) in EuroBasket.Very good club in Russia is a CSKA Moskow.
