Victory Day is a celebration of the victory of the Red Army and the Soviet people over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 8, 1945 and is celebrated on May 9 of each year. Since 1965, Victory Day is a non-working holiday.
