past simple & past continuous
I was (be) with some friends and we _ (run) in a race. It was a marathon.
There __ (be) hundreds of runners around us, men and women, and it
__(be) extremely hot. As we _ (cross) a bridge over a river, I
suddenly _ (notice) that everyone in the race _ (have) the
same face, even my friends! They were all the same person! I __ (want) to
stop, but there __(be) so many people behind me that I _
(have to) keep running. Then I __ (wake up) screaming.
