A high percentage of the English language consists of idioms which a learner will have to acquire in order to achieve complete fluency. However, good communication is not based on the quantity of idioms used, but on their appropriate usage. Students of English can easily make themselves understood using a minimal amount of idiomatic language, but some feel it is a necessity to learn them and then use them as often as possible to make a good impression and show how good their language is. However, using them incorrectly can sound worse than not using them at all. Thankfully, there are many qualified teachers who can provide clear explanation and help with practice.
