    Present Perfect or Past Simple?
    Put in the verbs.

    Tom: Have you heard (you/hear) the news about David?
    Harriet: No, ... (what/happened)
    Tom: ... (he/have an accident. He was walking down some steps (he/fall) and ... (break) his leg.
    Harriet: Oh, how awful! When ... (it/happen)?
    Tom: Yesterday afternoon. Melanie ... (tell) me about it last night, and ... (you/not/tell) me!
    Tom: Well ... (I/not/see) not last night. And ... (I/not/see) you today, until now.
    Harriet: I hope he's all right. ... (he/have) lots of accidents, you know. ... (he/doesn't) the same thing about two years ago.

    Tom: He has had an accident. He was walking down some steps, he has fallen and broken his leg.

    Harriet: Oh, how awful! When did it happen?

    Tom: Yesterday afternoon. Melanie told me about it last night, and you didn't tell me!

    Tom: Well, I didn't see you last night. And I haven't seen you today, until now.  

    Harriet: I hope he's all right. We have had lots of accidents, you know. He had the same thing about two years ago.
