People who write newspaper headlines (1) are usually limited by space. A headline must do two things; firstly, it (2) is supposed to grab the reader's attention and, secondly, it must allow the theme of the news story (3) to be stated in as few words as possible. For example, the headline 'Rain Cancelled Play' lets us know in just three words that a sporting event (4) was cancelled due to bad weather. Sometimes, however, mistakes (5) are made and headlines become unintentionally funny. The following headlines should have (6) been double-checked before they (7) were printed: 'Stolen Painting Found By Tree' and 'Kids Make Nutritious Snacks'. Both of these headlines can (8) be read in two ways. Can you see both meanings?
