Many successful foreign television shows have been remade for the Russian TV. "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is a famous television quiz show. The Russian version of the show started in 1998. It was broadcast on Channel 1. The show was hosted by Maxim Galkin. It was based on the original British format and had the same rules. The main goal of the show was to win 3 million Russian roubles by answering 15 questions correctly. There were four lifelines - "50/50", "Phone a friend", "Ask the audience" and "Double dip". In 2006 it was decided to add the Walkaway SMS game for TV viewers. Everybody was able to answer and win money by sending short messages.
