\"The Wonderful Birch\" is the Russian version of \"Cinderella\".The main character of the story is an unnamed girl. The Girl\'s Stepmother (the Witch) was evil and devious. She put a spell on the Girl\'s mother and plotted against the Girl. But the Mother continued to care for her daughter even when she became a birch tree. She helped the Girl along the way.The Girl is my favourite character. She is beautiful, brave and wise.I also liked the birch tree, a symbol of motherly love in this fairytale.
