A monument to Valery Chkalov is situated on the high bank of the Ural, from this monument the main street of Orenburg, Sovietskaya street, starts. Valery Pavlovich Chkalov has nothing to do with Orenburg but Orenburg was renamed after Chkalov in the fifties and naturally this monument was constructed. It was built on Pushkin boulevard from where a beautiful view of Zauralnaya grove opens. The Orenburg people are greatly proud that Pushkin was there once. And there is no difference whether he spent there one day or two, the fact remains the same: he was there. Three famous monuments are dedicated to Pushkin in the city.
