Children attend secondary school between 11 and 16 years old. Many students will choose to stay further two years after that. At the beginning of secondary school student learn a wide variety of subjects, but one of the differences between the British and American schools that the British students specialize in their chosen subject earlier. Most local schools welcome American students up to the age 18, but this may depend on their progress.  Up to the end of the Key Stage 3(age 14), all students have the same curriculum which includes English, Maths, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), History, Languages, ICT (Information and Computer Technologies), Religious Education, Physical Education, Music, Drama, Design& Technology (woodwork, metalwork), Cookery and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education).
