1. Everyone knows the Battle of Waterloo or the Battle of Kulikov Field. What other famous battles do you remember? Where and when did they take place?

I remember the Battle of the Alma. It is the first battle of the Crimean War (1853–1856). It took place on 20 September in 1854 on south of the River Alma in the Crimea. I also know about the Battle of Stalingrad (23 August 1942 – 2 February 1943). It was a battle between Germany and the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad in Southern Russia.

1. How has military equipment changed through the years? How do new technologies help to equip armies?

The weapons and vehicles are changed a lot. In our time the military has different ways of transferring and receiving the important information, including the Internet.

1. Every new war leads to more casualties than the previous one. What is the reason for that?

The main reason is the advanced weapons. I also agree with thought that the aggression breeds new aggression.

1. Why are some wars called patriotic? Can you give examples of such war?

The patriotic wars are such wars, when one of the war camp is forced to defense its folk, its territory.  We can name the war between Germany and the Soviet Union as patriotic war.

1. What is a civil war? What makes them some of the most tragic wars? What examples can you give?

The civil war is a war between organized groups within the same country. The famous civil wars are the American Civil War (from 1861 to 1865), the Russian Civil War (November 1917 – October 1922) and the English Civil War in 1642–1651. Such wars are the most tragic wars, because one folk divides on groups. Sometimes the representatives of one family, friends are fighting in different groups, one against another.

1. Can you remember a dramatic episode of any war?

I can remember the Siege of Leningrad, also known as the Leningrad Blockade. It was really terrible event. It took 872 days!

1. What are the usual consequences of wars and conflicts?

The results of every war and war conflicts are huge human, political and economic losses for its participants.
