School education in Russia can be divided into two main stages - primary school (from first to third grade) and secondary school (from fifth to eleventh grade). There is also a large amount of special schools, for example, with in-depth study of English language or physics. Education in Russian schools is compulsory and free for all children between the ages from 6 to 16. School year is normally divided into four terms with a week holidays between them. Summer holidays are the longest ones.
