Use constructions with the emphatic it to answer the following questions. Model- Who answered the bell, Mary or Floy?

1. They met her on the bridge, didn’t they? Or was it at the boating station? —  It was at the boating station where they met her, not on the bridge.

2. Did you yourself speak to the assistant professor, or did Margaret speak to him? — It was Margaret who spoke to the assistant professor, not me.

3. Oliver must have come from New Zealand. Or does he come from Australia? — It was Australia where Oliver has come from, not New Zealand.

4. The liner takes off at nine. Or will it be earlier? — It is at nine when the liner takes off, not earlier.

5. The headmaster will help us with the fixing of the machine tool. Or shall we apply to the consulting engineer? — It will be consulting engineer that will help us with the fixing of the machine tool, not the headmaster.

6. The second point is to be revised. Or shall we revise the first point, too? — It is the first point that is to be revised, not the second point. 

7. What was the source of the food poisoning — fish or meat? — It was meat that was the source of the food poisoning, not fish.

8. Can Mr. Shilov be entrusted with the task? Or will it be safer to charge Mrs. Pavlova with it? — It is Mrs. Pavlova who should be entrusted with the task, not Mr. Shilov.

9. Did Fred win the race? Or was Bobby the winner? — It was Bobby who won the race, no Fred.

10. Is he upstairs, or is he waiting for us in the car? — It is in the car where he is waiting for us, not upstairs.

11. Will you go there by sea, or do you prefer a plane? — It is by plane how I will go there, not by sea.

12. Is she growing azaleas or roses in her garden? — Those are roses that she is growing in her garden, not azaleas.
