The last years of Pushkin were very difficult and full of sadness. After moving to Orenburg, the financial situation of the family deteriorated. Tsar Nicholas I ordered the local authorities to monitor the behavior of Pushkin. Journalists harassed him, and friends misunderstood. The enemies said that he had not been able to write anything more serious. But despite all this, the last few years he wrote the worthiest works. One of these enemies was Dantes. He courted Pushkin’s wife and he challenged him to a duel. The duel ended with a mortal wound to the poet. Soon he died at home from wounds. His last words were “Life is over”.
