The oldest theater of Russia is the F. Volkov Russian Drama Theater. It was built back in 1750. The theater is located in the city of Yaroslavl. In those days there were many troupes of actors, but most were foreign or unprofessional. Therefore,  this theater is considered as the first Russian theater in the full understanding of this term. Also this theater had access to every resident, regardless of status and money. At the end of the 19th century, the Volkov Theater was one of the best theaters in Russia. At this moment, this theater is one of the most popular and famous theaters in the Russian province. It has two scenes: chamber and main. Its repertoire has 29 positions. Now the theater is located in a building, built in 1911, on a square under the same name as the theater and with a monument to its founder.
