A woman sent a large packet of cookies to her son Billy who was at a summer camp. Billy ate some of them and put the rest under his bed. The next day he wanted to eat them again but the box was gone. That afternoon a camp caretaker saw another boy sitting behind a tree and eating the stolen cookies. He decided to teach him not to steal and went to Billy’s tent. He told him to ask his mother to send another box of cookies. Billy did so and after a few days he got one more package of pastries in the mail. Then the camp caretaker told Billy that the boy who stole his cookies was down by the lake and asked him to go and share his cookies with the thief. At first Billy did not like the idea. But in half an hour the camp counselor saw the two come up the hill excitedly talking to each other. The boy who had taken the cookies was asking the other to accept his jackknife in payment for the stolen cookies, and Billy was refusing the gift from his new friend.
