My grandmother often recalls her youth. I like her stories, because I learn a lot of interesting things about what happened 50 years ago. She was born in a small village. Her father (my great-grandfather) died in the war. Her mother was poor and they lived on subsistence farming (they themselves grew all the provisions in the garden). In their village there were no shops with clothes, household goods and other necessary things. They bought all this at a fair in the city once a month. It is difficult for me to imagine how one can live in such conditions.
