Last century the USSR competed with the USA in space exploration, in economy and in many other things. Both countries launched rockets into space with the intention to explore the universe. The USSR and the USA were constantly producing a new space equipment. But Russians still made the first flight into space. Yuri Gagarin, a man belonging to the first generation of Soviet cosmonauts,launched the spaceship \"Vostok 1\" into space on April 12,1961. He flight around the Earth in 1 hour 29 minutes. The USSR`s government was satisfied with the results of the experiment and by this memorable event at all.
