White lie is an opinion. There are some situations when people ask you about something (for example, how do you like his or her parents) and you can\'t answer honestly because it can sound rude. You answer: \"Oh, they are really nice\", and this is a lie, in fact they are horrible to communicate with. 

Black lie is a fact. It is a complete untruth which is usually used to avoid unpleasant consequences or to gain benefit, for example: \"Oh, sorry, I\'m late, I\'ve been working all night\" (in fact the liar was watching TV till 3 AM).
