Когда ставится do/does , а когда is/are?

Do / does — is used in Present Simple. We use them in interrogative and negative sentences. Does is used in the third person singular.

Is / are — is used in Present Continuous and in Present Simple. Is is used in the third person singular, are is used in plural.

Do we play tennis?

Does he play tennis?

Is he playing tennis?

Are they playing tennis?

We do not play football.

She doesn’t play basketball.

Mary and Jane are travelling now.

Are Mary and Jane drinking coffee now?

Mary and Jane aren’t reading now.

Tom and Jack don’t watch films.

Do Tom and Jack read letters?

My cat is climbing a tree now.

Are these dogs running now?

These boys are swimming now.

Do these boys swim now?
