Custard is probably the most simple pudding you can make and is one of the most popular sweet sauces in the UK. It’s a yellow mixture of milk, sugar and eggs which you can eat cold or hot, on its own or with a pie. Custard is quicker to make than most other desserts and is definitely the easiest of all, especially when you use the ready-made custard powder. Of course, it’s better to use fresh ingredients – the sauce is then much tastier. Frankly, vanilla custard is the best food I’ve ever eaten in Britain.
