Kilt for Scots is not just a national dress, it is the whole history with its symbols and mythology. Traditionally kilt is made of woolen fabric with a special pattern of cells and stripes — tartan. Each clan of Scotland has its own tartan, it tells about the nobility of its owner and his social status. The custom of wearing a kilt in everyday life is not preserved, but on holidays, festivals, events and ceremonies Scottish men certainly demonstrate their kilts and add special kind of handbag – sporran which is decorated with deer fur. In many places in Scotland kilts can be seen during the competition among the Highlanders, as well as music and dance performances.
