  • The chemists in a small town was standing at his counter, cleaning his fixtures, when a young man rushed into and asked rather excitedly: “Have you got anything to stop hiccups?” The doctor looked at him with a smile for a moment and suddenly slapped him across the face with the cloth he held in his hand. “What do you mean by this?” the young man exclaimed, “I only asked you a civil question”. “That was a cure for the hiccups,” the chemists explained. “Are they not gone?” “No, it is my wife who has the hiccups and she is out, in the car.”
