  • The well-known humanitarian, Mother Teresa, was a catholic nun. She was born in 1910. Her father died when she was eight so she was raised by her mother. She is best known for fighting for the rights of the sick and helpless. She received a lot of awards for all her charity work. In 1979 she was even awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In spite of that fact she was very modest about her achievements. She worked almost up until her death.

She did everything to help other people. Her whole life was fully devoted to helping the poor, the needy, and the helpless. She died on September 5, 1997 in Calcutta, India. Now she is called Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.
