анонимGreat Britain is a country with rich history and culture that were created by many nations living there. Britain`s most popular national symbols are flag, coat of arms and hymn.
It is known that the UK consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. And each part has its own symbols. For example, St.George`s cross and red rose are the symbols of England. Scotland`s symbols are St.Andrew`s cross that is depicted on the flag and thistle. The legend says that this plant saved the Scotch from vikings`invasion when one of the enemies treaded on thistle, screamed and woke up all the local people. Dragon and daffodil are unofficial symbols of Wales. St. David is the patron of this part of the UK. Among the Northern Ireland`s symbols there are shamrock, flax plant and St.George`s cross with the red hand on it. Province`s patron is St.Patrick.
United Kingdom`s unique history and traditions led to such a big amount of national and unofficial symbols.
