The discoverer of America is Christopher Columbus. He was born in the Republic of Genoa. There he lived until 1472. After that he moved to Savona. In 1476 he moved to Portugal. He lived there for 9 years. He has also been to England, Iceland and Ireland. He proposed to the Portuguese king to support his idea of sailing in India in a short way. But the king refused. Therefore, Columbus moved to Spain and there he was seeking support from the wealthy nobles to supply his expedition with money.
