  • Secondary education in Britain starts at the age of 11 years old.Secondary education will last for 5 to 7 years.After three years students will be assessed by their teachers.There are two levels - Level 2 (lower) and Level 3( higher) secondary education .Secondary education in Britain is free .It is accessible for every child without exceptions.International students will normally join at the age of 13 years old.The core subjects in most schools are English , Maths and Sciences .There are specialists schools which concentrate on certain subjects only .Student normally select additional 4 or 5 subjects .Students will do GCSE\'s in these chosen subjects .GCSE is a General Certificate of Secondary Education. Students will do their GCSE\' s for two years .Assessments are based on coursework or exams .GCSE\' s are needed for entering further education.After completing GCSE\' s students will decide what to do next .Students can go in employment .Students can continue to Higher Education.To join Higher Education students must have certain number of GCSE\'s.Each subject will require appropriate GCSE\'s.
