What did James Cook discover?

James Cook (1728 - 1779) - was an English naval sailor, a travel explorer, a cartographer and a  discoverer, a member of the Royal Society and a captain of Royal Navy. He was the head of three round-the-world expeditions to study the World Ocean. During these expeditions he made a number of geographical discoveries. He surveyed and plotted on the map the  parts of Newfoundland and the eastern coast of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the west coast of North America, the Pacific, the Indian and the Atlantic Oceans.
